The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is a semi-autonomous governmental agency whose mission is to develop and promote sustainable tourism in Guyana through collaboration to maximise local socio-economic and conservation outcomes and improve the travellers’ experience. We are seeking to fill the position of Training Officer.

Application Deadlines: December 14th 2023; Position: Full-time; Desired Start Date: December 21st 2023; Location: National Exhibition Centre, Sophia, Georgetown.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
• Lead the planning, organisation, and promotion of travel industry training and train-the-trainer programs.
• Lead GTA training programs, secure training as an instructor trainer and lead train-the-trainer programs.
• Lead on-site assessments of tourism enterprises and determine the extent of their compliance with service quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
• Advise the tourism private sector on adopting improved service quality, safety, and sustainability standards and getting licensed by the Authority.
• Support the development and implementation of product development and operational systems that foster tourism development and uplift the tourism private sector.
• Support the development of travel industry guidelines.
• Maintain a professional standard of conduct, reliability and communication at all times in accordance with the GTA Staff Code of Conduct and other relevant Policies and Procedures.
• Any other tasks may be assigned.
Required Qualifications/ Competencies/ Skills and Experience:
• A degree from a recognised University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Human Resources or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Training Officer or in a similar role would be an asset.
• Ability to perform effectively in a high-paced office environment.
• Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Familiarity with Gmail, Google Docs, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams for virtual engagements and strong writing skills arc desired.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Benefits include duty allowance, travel allowance, vacation allowance, and gratuity. 90-day introductory period applies to all new positions.
