Description
Introduction
The USAID/Eastern & Southern Caribbean’s Youth Resilience, Inclusion and Empowerment Activity (Y-RIE) engages and empowers youth and other key partners to promote youth, family, and community safety and resilience. In May 2023, USAID formally launched the Y-RIE Program in Guyana which is being implemented by DAI Global over a 5-year period and seeks to prevent youth crime and violence while supporting youth to contribute to building safer, more prosperous, and resilient societies. Y-RIE is also being executed in Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and Saint Lucia. The Program uses a public health approach, focusing on reducing the risk factors that increase youth vulnerability to delinquency and strengthening the protective factors that contribute to youth resilience. By working closely with government partners, youth ages 10-29 years old, their families and communities, Y-RIE seeks to strengthen government-provided social services, improve learning outcomes amongst focus youth, improve youth preparedness for the world-of-work, and strengthen community and family systems in select communities.
The select communities where Y-RIE is focusing its work in Guyana are:
- Sophia (C, D and E Fields)
Werk-En-Rust and Albouystown (including Charlestown)
- New Amsterdam (Smythfield, Mount Sinai, Little Caracas, Tucber Park, Winkel, Budhan Scheme)
As part of its efforts to engage youth in promoting non-violence and social resilience, Y-RIE aims to amplify messages that foster positive behaviors and contribute to safer communities. One of the key methods for achieving this goal is through the production of creative media, specifically video content, that speaks directly to youth in a way that is culturally relevant, engaging, and aligned with positive social values. The “Tun it Up” jingle and song competition organized by Y-RIE aimed to identify and highlight youth-driven messages of non-violence, social harmony, and resilience, which will inform the products created by the multimedia production specialist.
The winner of the competition will have their jingle professionally produced, along with a music video and a teaser reel. These outputs will be used as part of Y-RIE’s Social and Behavior Change (SBC) approaches to engage youth audiences, reinforce positive social messages, and increase awareness of the program’s objectives. Through this media, Y-RIE seeks to promote non-violence and encourage youth to embrace messages of inclusion, empowerment, resilience, and peaceful conflict resolution.
This scope of work outlines the requirements for a qualified multimedia production specialist who will be responsible for producing the music video, teaser reel, and audio recording of the winning jingle/song. These deliverables will help amplify the competition winner’s message and support Y-RIE’s broader goals of youth empowerment and behavior change.
