Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or
- Completed Level 11 ACCA Pursuing Level 111
- 4+ years experience in Senior Accounting or finance roles.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite, ESPECIALLY Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance is a MUST.
- Strong customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Income statements, Balance sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and reconcile accounts payable and receivable records.
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor invoice processing and customer billing.
- Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE and NIS returns monthly.
- Review and analyze expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgets.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial data and analysis to aid in decision-making.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Apply for GRA and NIS compliance, including preparing tax returns and reconciling tax accounts.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
- Organize and maintain financial records and documentation in a secure and organized manner.
- Prepare various financial reports and ad-hoc analysis for management as required.
- Discuss the financial findings in weekly/bi-weekly meetings with clients
- Manage Finance department staff in terms of delegating, reviewing and approving work, and training them on processes and best practices.
- Manage multiple financial portfolios at the same time.
