OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER – Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital Inc.

Description

The OS&H Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the hospital provide high-quality care to its patients, and that the hospital is compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards. You will report to the hospital Quality Manager and will provide assistance as needed.

Requirements

– Five Subjects CXC inclusive of Mathematics, English

-Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g.Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management, Natural Science, Environmental Science etc.)

-Certification in ISO quality managements systems would be a strong asset.

-2-3 years of experience in a quality and OS&H role, preferably in a hospital setting would be a strong asset

– Relevant work experience in occupational health and safety, such as experience working in a health care setting or in a role related to safety management.

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as the role may involve interacting with a variety of stakeholders, including employees, management, and regulatory agencies

-The ability to do statistical anaylsis.

-The ability to develop and implement quality and safety policies and procedures.

-Proficiency in the use of computer software related to quality and safety management, such as risk assessment tools and incident reporting systems.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement OS&H policies and procedures specific to a hospital setting.
2. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in a hospital environment.
3. Develop and deliver training on quality and OS&H topics to hospital staff.
4. Monitor and review the hospital’s performance in relation to quality and OH&S standards.
5. Investigate and report on incidents and accidents that occur within the hospital.
6. Ensure that the hospital is compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards, including those related to patient care and infection control.
7. Coordinate with external bodies, such as regulatory authorities and accreditation organizations, to ensure the hospital meets all necessary standards.
8. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality and OS&H in the hospital.
9. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the hospital’s quality and OS&H performance.
10. Provide assistance to the hospital Quality Manager as needed.
