Responsibilities

Required Documents
Drivers must always carry the following documents when operating the Bank’s vehicles:

A valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle type.

A copy of the vehicle’s insurance certificate, fitness certificate, and registration licence (to be displayed in the vehicle).

Pre-Driving Compliance
-
Ensure that the vehicle is fully insured, and that both the fitness and licence documents are valid.

Report all relevant entry dates to the Head of Department or Supervisor to ensure timely insurance renewal and document updates.

Journey Authorization
-
All trips must be authorized by the Head of Department, Supervisor, or the person to whom the driver is assigned.

Log Book Procedures
-
Drivers must personally book out and in with the subordinate officer in charge before and after every authorized journey.
-
All entries in the log book must be accurately recorded and must match the guards’ diary.
-
-
Post-Trip Reporting
-
Report back in person to the Head of Department or assigned supervisor immediately after each journey for further instructions.
-

Vehicle Use
-
Only authorized individuals may operate the Bank’s vehicles.
-
Vehicles must be driven with due care and attention at all times.
-

Passenger Authorization
-
Unauthorized persons are not permitted to travel in Bank vehicles unless approval is obtained from the relevant authority.

Road Compliance
-
All road signs, including speed limits and stop signs, must be strictly followed both within Georgetown and elsewhere.

Incident Reporting
-
Drivers are responsible for reporting all vehicle damages or losses immediately.
-
Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action or financial liability.
-

In the Event of an Accident
-
Report the accident to the nearest District Police Station immediately.
-
Inform the Bank of Guyana as soon as possible.
-
Remain at the scene until the police have completed necessary measurements.
-
Notify the insurance company and submit all required reports and statements.
-
Arrange for damage assessment and take photographs if necessary.

Vehicle Handover Procedures
-
Conduct thorough inspections during handover/takeover with a subordinate officer.
-
Log all defects in the log book, checklist, and diary, and report them in the morning report.
-
Check speedometer readings against log book entries.
-
-
Vehicle Maintenance
-
Wash vehicles weekly and clean them daily at the end of duty.
-
Ensure vehicles are fuelled, radiator and oil levels are checked, and properly handed over to the subordinate officer.

Fuel/Oil Logs
-
Record all fuel and oil usage in the log book, including order numbers.

Weekly Inspections
-
All vehicles will be inspected every Monday morning by a senior officer by 09:00 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Documentation Submission
-
Submit log book and overtime sheets daily to the Head of Department or Supervisor for review and signature.

Dress Code
-
Drivers must be properly attired at all times while on duty.

Presence During Servicing
-
Drivers must remain present when vehicles are left at gas stations for washing.

Qualifications and Experience
-
A sound secondary school background.

Previous experience in the military (an official discharge from the relevant force is required if applicable
