Summary: The U.S. Mission in Guyana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Fraud Investigator in the Consular Section.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Senior Fraud Prevention Assistant is embedded in the Consular Section and works under the direct supervision of the Fraud Prevention Manager.
  • The incumbent conducts sensitive and complex fraud investigations of U.S. immigrant and nonimmigrant visa, American Citizenship and Nationality benefit fraud, identity fraud.
  • To facilitate these investigations, the incumbent builds relationships with contacts of all levels throughout the country, to include but not limited to, relationships with the law enforcement, immigration agencies, airport security, the General Registrar Office and Guyana judicial offices, Guyana’s Adoption Agency, etc.
  • The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining working level liaison with the Assistant Regional Security Officer -Investigator’s Office and Post liaison in CA/FPP.
  • The position is required to travel outside of the Embassy to conduct field investigations as well as to provide training to our external customers.

Requirements

  • All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a local security clearance.
  • All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
  • Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
  • Two (2) years college or university studies in general coursework is required.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in criminal or administrative investigations or consular work is required.
  • English – Fluent; speaking, reading & writing.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of the host country’s customs and practices, laws, and regulations as it relates to marriages and common law relationships.
  • Must have significant understanding of legislation, rules and regulations affecting the issuance of birth certificates, passports and naturalization and legitimization within the Consular district.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving skills and judgement.
  • Must be able to proactively assess obstacles and identify solutions.
  • Must be able to plan, organize and execute projects/research.
  • Must have the ability to be tactful and courteous.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook) to create documents and spreadsheets, maintain and update databases, and develop presentations.
  • Must be able to draft written communication in fluent English.
  • Must be able to develop mid-high-level contacts is essential.

Salary

GYD $6,077,692 /Per Year
