The U.S. Mission in Guyana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Supervisory American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant in the Consular Section. Key Responsibilities

  • The incumbent serves as the ACS unit’s supervisor, managing the scheduling, intake, and processing of applications for U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, and notarial and other routine services.
  • The incumbent supervises the day-to-day work of one full-time ACS Assistant and other consular staff when assigned to the unit for training or support.

Requirements

  • All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a local security clearance.
  • All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
  • Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
  • Two (2) years of college or university study in an appropriate field such as Management/Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Social Sciences, Communication, or Law is required.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulatory materials involving consular matters and contact with the public is required.
  • English – Fluent; speaking, reading & writing.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Federal Benefits, nationality, citizenship/passport, and Special Citizen Services laws, regulations, precedents, and procedures is required.
  • Must have strong knowledge of local laws and practice governing international travel, marriage, divorce, death, child custody, adoptions, citizenship and permanent residence, and process of criminal proceedings.
  • Must have the ability to effectively evaluate day-to-day unit operations, and to proactively develop and implement solutions for identified issues.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and to deal effectively and humanely with people in crisis.
  • Must use sound judgment in determining how to handle complex cases, and the ability to succinctly and clearly explain complex issues to others.
  • Must have the ability to solve novel problems and find resourceful solutions for U.S. citizens’ problems.

Salary

GYD $6,077,692 /Per Year
