A laundry assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a laundry facility, whether in a commercial or residential setting. This role is essential for ensuring that laundry services run efficiently and that clients receive clean, well-maintained items

Qualifications:

• High school diploma (CXC) or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a laundry facility or similar environment is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Basic knowledge of laundry equipment and cleaning agents.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Work Environment:

• Typically works in a laundry facility, hotel, hospital, or similar setting.
• May involve standing, lifting, and exposure to cleaning chemicals.

• Sorting and Handling Laundry:
  • Sort dirty laundry by color, fabric type, and washing instructions.
  • Handle delicate items with care to prevent damage.
• Operating Laundry Equipment:
  • Load and unload washing machines and dryers.
  • Operate ironing machines, folding machines, and other laundry equipment.
• Washing and Drying:
  • Measure and add detergents and cleaning agents.
  • Select appropriate wash cycles and temperatures for different loads.
• Folding and Finishing:
  • Fold, hang, or package clean laundry neatly.
  • Ensure items are returned to their proper locations or clients.
• Maintaining Cleanliness:
  • Clean and maintain laundry equipment and work areas.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Customer Service:
  • Assist customers with inquiries and provide information about services.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
• Record Keeping:
  • Maintain records of laundry processed.
