Description
We are looking for skilled and experienced butchers to join our team. As a butcher, you will play a critical role in ensuring our customers receive top-notch products, prepared to their specifications.
Requirements
- Sound secondary education
- Minimum of 2-3 years proven experience as a butcher.
- Valid food handler’s certificate.
- Knowledge of meat products, including the ability to distinguish between different cuts and grades.
- Excellent knife handling and cutting skills with attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in lift heavy meat products, and stand for extended periods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work shifts that fall between 8am and 7pm, Monday – Saturday.
Responsibilities
· Preparation of various cuts of meat.
· Operating meat processing machinery, such as grinders, slicers, and saws, ensuring safe and proper handling of equipment.
· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the cutting area, following food safety regulations.
· Assisting customers with meat selection, offering advice on cooking methods, portion sizes, and storage.
· Weighing, packaging and labelling, meat products for display and customer orders.
· Monitoring inventory levels of meat products and communicating with the shift supervisor for timely reordering.
· Ensuring proper storage of all meat products in refrigerators or freezers to maintain freshness and quality.
· Assisting in managing waste by minimizing product spoilage and waste through proper storage and rotation (FIFO).
