Description
The pharmacy technician will work directly under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to dispense both prescription and over-the-counter medicine to patients. He/she will be responsible for checking and evaluating written prescriptions, as well as recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with pharmaceutical regulations. This role requires the candidate to be trustworthy and possess the ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
· Minimum 5 subjects at CSEC or CXC including Mathematics and English
· Must be licensed with the Pharmacy Council of Guyana
· 2+ years of community/hospital pharmacy experience.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Customer service experience

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Excellent organizational and analytical skills, and ability to multi-task.
· High level of integrity and compassion
· Willingness to work flexible schedule, including extended days, holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities
This position is “hands on” and includes but not limited to the following essential duties:
· Receive and evaluate prescriptions for completeness and accuracy.
· Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
· Follow cash handling procedures and reconcile cash drawers at the end of each shift.
· Assist the pharmacist in packaging medications according to prescription orders and label prescription containers accurately with necessary information.
· Assist the pharmacist to maintain inventory by restocking medications, checking expiration dates, and segregating expired medications.
· Deliver quality customer service to patients, respond to inquiries, questions, or requests, and refer them to the pharmacist for medical information.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area, including workstations and storage areas.
· Adhere to pharmacy regulations and policies, including but not limited to those related to patient confidentiality and safety.
· Keep accurate records including but not limited to pharmacy files, patient records, inventories, and registry of controlled drugs.
· Keeping informed about current legislation relating to the pharmaceutical industry. Stay up to date with emerging trends in the pharmaceutical and OTC retail industries.
· Protect organization’s value by always keeping information confidential.
· Complete any special assignments or other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
