Description

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all parts produced in the machine shop meet the required quality standards, including API Q1, Spec 7-1 & 7-2, and engineering drawings. This role involves conducting various types of inspections (receiving, in-process, final, and first article), using a range of precision measuring tools (calipers, OD & ID Mics) and techniques. The Inspector will document inspection results, identify and report non-conformities, and work closely with the production team to implement corrective actions.

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in quality inspection in a machine shop or manufacturing environment is perferred.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and coating inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, API Q1.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
    Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree or certification in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving Inspection: Perform visual and dimensional checks on received goods including raw materials, and customer supplied property.
  • In-Process Inspection: Monitor and inspect parts during the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with specifications. This includes visual, dimensional and surface checks, along with bath chemistry for specialised coating processes.
  • Final Inspection: Conduct comprehensive inspections of finished parts, including dimensional checks, functional tests, and surface inspections.
  • First Article Inspection (FAI): Perform detailed inspections of the first part produced, comparing it to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including measurement data and non-conformity reports, in line with API Q1 requirements.
  • Calibration and Maintenance: Regularly calibrate inspection tools and equipment to maintain accuracy. Perform routine maintenance on measuring instruments and equipment.
