Description
To give support by updating, recording, processing of transactions to ensure the efficient functioning of the Accounts Department. Giving support to the Berbice Office on accounts duties.
Working hours:
Monday to Thursdays – 8:00am to 4:30pm
Fridays – 8:00am to 3:30pm
Requirements
Qualifications and Work Experience:
At least five (5) subjects CSEC with grades I, II or III including English Language, Mathematics and Principles of Accounts.
At least two (2) years’ relevant experience.
Competencies:
Very good customer service skills for internal and external interactions. He/she must be able to maintain good relationships with staff of the EPA and members of the public.
Flexibility to travel on field trips to perform accounting tasks.
He/she is expected to maintain integrity as he/she will be exposed to matters confidential in nature.
Responsibilities
- Recording and processing financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, using accounting software.
- Maintaining accurate records of cash receipts and disbursements.
- Preparation of bank reconciliations and ensuring that bank statements are accurate and up-to-date.
- Issuing invoices and processing payments from customers.
- Operating the Petty Cash float.
- Assist with reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies.
- Assist with preparing and submitting tax returns and other statutory returns.
- Assist with queries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions by extracting or compiling information or documents.
- Assisting with processing of financial transactions using established financial controls and procedures.
