Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant Assistant to join our team. As an Accountant Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our accounting department, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of financial processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accountant Assistant, Finance Clerk, or similar role
- Strong experience in petty cash management and bank reconciliation
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel
- Familiarity with cheque handling and cash deposit procedures
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial regulations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and promptly
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain general ledger accounts
- Prepare and submit tax forms, ensuring compliance with taxation regulations
- Assist with payroll processing and related activities
- Assist in budget preparation and monitoring
- Handle sensitive financial information in a confidential manner
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of financial transactions
- Assist with audits and other accounting projects as needed
Petty Cash Handling:
- Manage, record, and reconcile petty cash transactions.
- Ensure all petty cash disbursements are supported by appropriate documentation.
- Monitor petty cash balances and replenish funds as needed.
Bank and Cheque Handling:
- Prepare, issue, and record cheques for payments.
- Reconcile bank statements on a regular basis.
- Deposit cheques and cash at the bank as required.
- Monitor and report any discrepancies in bank transactions.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices and payments accurately and promptly.
- Follow up on outstanding payments and manage vendor relationships.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist with maintaining general ledger accounts and journal entries.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
