Description
The Valve and Instrument Technician Apprentice is responsible for reviewing MSDS sheets, wearing proper PPE, documenting valve data, and conducting pre-tests. Disassemble and clean valve components, inspect for defects, and support final testing and painting per customer specs. Safety is a top priority—must follow all procedures, maintain clean work areas, and assist with lifting, loading, and moving valves and supplies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and work in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely use and maintain a large variety of tools and equipment associated with the assembly of valves and actuators, including impact wrenches, electric and manual hand tools, lapping machines, testing equipment, overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outside in environmental conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
Responsibilities
- Review MSDS sheets, wear proper PPE, document valve data, and perform pre-testing of valves.
- Disassemble valve components, clean bodies and components, and document any defects or abnormalities.
- Move valves to inspection staging areas, perform final testing, and paint valves per customer requirements.
- Follow safety procedures, maintain work areas and equipment, and lift, load, and move supplies and finished products.
