Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board – FOR CHEMIST
The Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board of the Ministry of Agriculture, operates the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Laboratory whose mandate is to monitor and enforce the pesticides and toxic chemicals regulations and to enhance Guyana’s obligations towards safe and wholesome food, both locally and internationally. The Laboratory is located in the National Agricultural Research Extension Institute (NAREI) Compound, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
The Board is seeking to employ a Chemist to work in this Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent must be able to develop and apply methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis by Gas Chromatograph, High Performance Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometry in keeping with Good Laboratory Practices. Ideally the candidate should have a strong background in chemistry with practical expertise, familiarity with many types of analytical instrumentation and ability to quickly solve operational problems.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, computer literacy; and excellent inter-personal, communication, reporting, writing and presentation skills.
Remuneration:
A competitive salary package is offered for this position, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is negotiable.
