Drivers usually start early (6–7 a.m.) to load branded products at distribution centres in Georgetown or regional hubs, then deliver to retailers across designated routes—including rural areas where road conditions vary. Duties include verifying deliveries with signed waybills, collecting payments or returns where applicable, and reporting vehicle issues to supervisors using local communication channels like WhatsApp or phone.

Punctuality, personal accountability, and respectful engagement with retailers—especially in small-town or village settings—are highly valued. Employers expect drivers to represent the brand professionally, often requiring neat uniforms and basic customer service skills, reflecting Guyana’s emphasis on interpersonal trust and community reputation.

Experienced drivers may advance to roles such as Route Supervisor, Fleet Assistant, or Logistics Coordinator—often requiring internal training or NTA-certified courses offered through institutions like GTTI or the Guyana School of Agriculture. Some move into sales support or become independent distributors after building strong retailer relationships and meeting performance benchmarks.
