How to Apply
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or certifications are typically required for a Web & Digital Production Specialist role in Guyana?
Employers in Guyana generally expect a diploma or bachelor’s degree in web development, digital media, computer science, or a related field. Industry-recognized certifications such as Google Analytics, Adobe Certified Professional (for Photoshop or XD), or AWS Cloud Practitioner are increasingly valued, especially for roles involving analytics or cloud-based hosting. Local institutions like GTTI, UG, or UWI Open Campus offer relevant programmes aligned with regional digital industry needs.
What does a typical day look like for a Web & Digital Production Specialist working with a Guyanese organisation like G Assist?
Day-to-day tasks often include updating and maintaining websites (e.g., WordPress or custom CMS), producing digital assets (banners, email templates, social graphics), and coordinating with local marketing or customer service teams. You’ll likely use tools like Figma, Canva, and basic HTML/CSS — with frequent communication via WhatsApp or Zoom due to hybrid work norms common among Guyanese SMEs and BPO-supporting firms.
How does workplace culture in Guyana affect expectations for this role?
Team collaboration is highly valued, and professionals are expected to be adaptable and respectful of hierarchical structures common in local organisations. Punctuality and responsiveness matter, but flexibility around deadlines may occur during national events (e.g., Mashramani) or power/internet outages — so proactive communication and offline contingency planning are practical skills employers appreciate.
What career progression paths exist for this role in the Guyanese digital sector?
With 2–3 years’ experience, specialists often move into senior digital production, digital marketing coordination, or junior full-stack development roles — especially as local fintech, agri-tech, and government digitalisation initiatives expand. Upskilling in local demand areas like SEO for Caribbean audiences or integration with USSD/SMS platforms can open doors to leadership or consultancy opportunities within Guyana or CARICOM markets.
What benefits are typically offered to Web & Digital Production Specialists in Guyana?
Standard statutory benefits include paid annual leave (minimum 14 days), sick leave, and contributions to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS). Some employers offer medical aid through local providers like Guyana United Medical Services (GUMS) or private plans, and pension contributions may be voluntary or employer-matched depending on company policy — particularly in larger or internationally linked firms.
How should I apply for this role, and what do Guyanese employers specifically look for in candidates?
Applications are usually submitted via email or local job portals like GuyJobs or LinkedIn, with a portfolio link (e.g., GitHub, Behance, or personal domain) strongly preferred over generic CVs. Employers prioritise demonstrable local experience — such as managing a Guyanese business website or creating content for local campaigns — and evidence of reliability, digital literacy, and fluency in English with clear written communication suited to multilingual client environments.
