DRIVER/MESSENGER

The Guyana Tourism Authority is a semi-autonomous governmental agency whose mission is to develop and promote sustainable tourism in Guyana through collaboration to maximise local socio-economic and conservation outcomes and improve the visitors’ experience.
We are seeking an experienced, honest and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Driver/Messenger. The Driver/Messenger is responsible for the day-to-day transportation logistics operations, as guided by the Receptionist, and in direct support of the Operations of the Authority.

Key responsibilities of the position include;

• Driving to transport staff, documents and packages from required destination: in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensuring that the organisation’s vehicle is always driven and parked in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintaining vehicle usage log book.
• Ensuring that the relevant records and log books are always properly updated and stored.
• Basic vehicle maintenance – ensuring that the vehicle is in proper working condition and is always maintained in a clean state.
• Complying with the Existing Laws and Regulations relating to the conduct of t motor vehicle on the roadways in Guyana.
• Any other tasks which may be assigned.

Required Qualifications/ Competencies/ Skills and Experience;

• A sound secondary education.
• Numerical and Literacy skills.
• A good command of written and verbal English.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Defensive Driving Certification is required.
• Must be able to drive Manual and Automatic vehicles.
• Experience in Off-Road Travels.
• At least 5 years of driving experience.
• Aged between 35- 45 years.
• Skilled in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
• Flexible in terms of working horn’s and willingness to travel extensively within the country.
• Good health and fitness record.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Benefits include travel allowance, duty allowance, vacation allowance, and gratuity. A 90-day introductory period applies to all new positions.
