ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT – Guyana Breweries Inc.

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our team. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to our accounting department, with a focus on ensuring the precise and prompt execution of financial transactions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of five (5) O’ Level subjects, including Mathematics and English or A’ Level passes, including Accounts.

• Pursuing Level 2 ACCA or equivalent examinations at a recognized institution.

• At least three (3) years’ accounting experience.

• At least one (1) years’ supervisory experience.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and any other relevant software.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Efficient Time Management skills and ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.

• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures that GBI Sales are closed off and updated by the 1st working day of the month including liaising with departments to verify that sales are keyed and updated on time, ensuring sales figures are complete prior to close off and confirming that sales deadlines are met.



• Liaises with group companies to ensure that all group confirmations are received and filed monthly, investigates all reconciling items and ensures agreement between group accounts on a monthly basis to facilitate consolidated account process.



• Prepares Debtors Summary Reports as needed to provide information for the preparation of management accounts and reports.

• Prepares Over 90 Days Overdue Report with comments on progressive action to recover debts in accordance with Group policy, ensures that overdue accounts are followed up on, advises on collections and resolves queries promptly as needed to assist with reducing bad debts.

• Checks customer accounts for overdue and overlimit on a daily basis, advises General Manager, Area Sales Managers and Finance Manager of all overdue accounts and ensures that all accounts adhere to company policies and kept within credit terms etc.

• Prepares and prints reports that may be requested by management from time to time.



• Ensures that work areas are maintained in accordance with good housekeeping and safety practices.

• Performs any other related duties required by the job function.



• Checks and Balances of deposits with cashiers daily.

• Check and sign off petty cash every day.

• Check and post payment Journals.

• Keying of Bank Journals on a monthly basis.
