Demerara Distillers Limited and Subsidiaries is seeking applications from interested persons with the requisite qualifications and experience, for the positions below:
Assistant Engineer
The holder of this position will be responsible for, among other things:
- Ensuring that the operation of the Demerara Shipping Company Limited workshop is done in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Providing support, diagnose and solve mechanical and electrical defects on equipment
- Reviewing inventory to ensure that critical spares are adequately replenished
- Documenting all daily repairs, maintenance and movement of spares
- Supervision of the workshop team members to ensure that all assignments are done in keeping with the company’s health and safety policies
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Guyana or any recognized university with four (4) years’ experience in a supervisory position in a shipping environment or with an engineering firm involved in maintenance activities •Excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to prepare reports
- A willingness to work flexible hours
