CARGO OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR – West Side Online Shopping

The Cargo Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient clearance, handling and movement of incoming cargo from the airport to the company’s warehouse. The role includes preparing and verifying cargo documentation, coordinating airport clearance activities, supervising the porter and other supporting staff, monitoring incoming shipments, and ensuring that all cargo is properly accounted for and transferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the clearance of incoming cargo at the airport.
  • Prepare, review and organize all documentation required for cargo clearance.
  • Ensure shipment and cargo documents are accurate and completed on time.
  • Liaise with airport personnel, customs officials, airlines and other relevant agencies as required.
  • Monitor incoming shipments and ensure cargo is cleared and collected promptly.
  • Coordinate the transportation of cleared cargo from the airport to the company’s warehouse.
  • Supervise and assign duties to the porter and other staff assisting with cargo operations.
  • Ensure proper handling, loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Identify and immediately report missing, damaged, short-landed or otherwise discrepant cargo.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma from the University of Guyana or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Good computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and effectively coordinate the work of other employees.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly to shipment discrepancies or delays.
  • High level of integrity, reliability and accountability.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential company and shipment records.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours based on cargo arrivals and operational requirements.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
