CONSULAR ASSISTANT/PASSPORT EXAMINER

The High Commission of Canada in Guyana has a requirement for a Temporary Emergency’Contract Employee to fill the position of Consular Assistant Passport Examiner at the LE-A2 level with responsibilities under the general supervision of the Consular Officer and or the Consul. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: the issuing of Canadian passports: providing basic information and advice on citizenship matters to Canadians residing in Guyana and Suriname: providing consular information and services to visiting and resident Canadian citizens: replying to requests made by telephone, in writing, or in person; maintaining lists of Canadian citizens residing in Guyana and Suriname; documenting all consular services on the Departmental programs (COSMOS & ORBIS); and performing other duties – all in accordance with mission Consular Service Standards.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma with at least 5 CSEC passes at Grade 2 and above (Mathematics and English Language included)

Language:

Ability to communicate fluently and effectively, in both oral and written English.

Experience:

Evidence of at least 2 years recent* related experience working in an officc’client-scrvice environment, (’recent is defined as within the last 3 years)

Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of standard office equipment and computer software (Excel. Word. Power Point and Outlook)

Conditions of employment:

Ability to obtain and retain a Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability Security Screening Ability to obtain a working proficiency in Canada’s two official languages (English & French) Ability to obtain the relevant certifications to operate the Departmental programs (COSMOS & ORBIS) Eligibility to live and work in Guyana
