DISTRIBUTION MANAGER – Excel Guyana

DESCRIPTION

The Distribution Manager will be required to manage the distribution of the Company’s products, ensuring that distribution employees sell and deliver products in a timely and effective manner and in keeping with goals and sales targets set out by management. Ensures that the Company’s divisional products are widely distributed nationally, thereby ensuring that our market share is maintained / increased. Builds relationship with customers and ensures that the Company’s service to customers and consumers exceeds expectations in terms of frequency of visits, quality and range of products.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Experience

  • At least 7 years’ experience in Sales and Distribution supervision position, preferably in a FMCG environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).

Required Education and Training

  • An undergraduate degree in Marketing would be an asset or equivalent combination of relevant and related work experience.
  • At least five (5) CSEC / CXC ‘O’ Levels including English and Mathematic

  • Must be a team player.
  • Must adhere to and enforce all safety rules and sales practices of the Company during the performance of his/her duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Management

  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to develop and execute sales strategies focused on increased sales and profitability for the designated local districts.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure sales strategies are properly aligned with overall business strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and the Relationship Manager to identify local districts with sales gaps and create customized strategies to drive sales.
  • Prepare and manage sales budgets and selling expenses for designated districts.
  • Collaborate with Sales Manager, Relationship Manager and Head Office Marketing Team to ensure flawless execution of brand marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with costing events and programs to ensure maximum revenue dollars and non-displacements of sales, ROI and profitability.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints timely and satisfactorily, minimizing risk to the Company.
  • Develop influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels and execute strategies to win profitable and continued business.
  • Negotiate for shelf space and co-op activity.
  • Evaluate and understand competitors and competitive solutions in the market; implement commercial and technical strategies to compete and enable increased penetration and growth.

Route Management and Customer Service



  • Manage and motivate Sales Team to meet and/or exceed sales and revenue objectives.
  • Manage Sales Supervisors and Sales Team members to ensure routes are being serviced as per Company guidelines and that there is compliance with all Company policies and established guidelines.
  • Recommending and implementing adjustments on routes.
  • Visit the down trade on a regular basis with or without an Sales Supervisors and makes appropriate interventions to address issues that arise.
  • Manages interventions in the trade based on reports from Sales Supervisors on sales contractors, merchandisers, competitor and consumer activity.
  • Ensure all Sales Supervisors / Salesmen route listings are up to date.
  • Ensures that Sales Supervisors and Salesmen service the routes as per Company Standards
  • Ensures that Salesmen and Loaders deliver exceptional service to customers.

People Management

  • Manages and motivates the sales team to meet / exceed sales and revenue objectives.
  • Monitors and continuously assesses performance of Sales Supervisors and their teams, manages attendance, conduct and issues of salesmen and loaders including their attire.
  • Ensure the Sales Supervisors have weekly meetings with their respective group, submit a daily log report every day are on board a truck at least once a week.
  • Assists with conducting regular Sales Supervisors meetings to discuss trade / competitor activity.
  • Loss Control and Prevention
  • Responsible for random spot check of Sales vans on a weekly basis on return to compound and while on route.
  • Responsible for end of month van checks.
  • Daily review of overage/shortage report.
  • Weekly check of Holdovers & Credit account report.
  • Daily check on Rejects report.
  • Ensuring price changes as well as “Special Pricing” are adjusted on all handhelds.
  • Overseeing of extra goods over the ramp and bins from warehouse.
  • Liaise with Garage daily on truck repairs, inspections and service.
  • Monitor the redistribution of security guards on trucks.
