DRIVER/MESSENGER – CO-OPERATIVE REPUBLIC OF GUYANA GUYANA TOURISM AUTHORITY

JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Guyana Tourism Authority is a semi-autonomous governmental agency whose mission is to develop and promote sustainable tourism in Guyana through collaboration to maximise local socio­economic and conservation outcomes and improve the visitors’ experience.
We are seeking an experienced, honest and highly motivated individual to till the position of Drivcr/Mcsscngcr. The position of Driver is responsible for the day-to-day transportation logistics operations, as guided by Ihe Receptionist, and in direct support of the (Jperations of the Authority.

Wednesday. May 15.2024; Position: Full-time; Desired Start Date: June 3, 2024; Location: National Exhibition Centre, Sophia, Georgetown.

Key responsibilities of the position include:
⦁ Driving to transport staff, documents and packages from required destinations in a safe and efficient manner.
⦁ Ensuring that the organisation’s vehicle is always driven and parked in a safe and efficient manner.
⦁ Maintaining vehicle usage log book.
⦁ Ensuring that the relevant records and log books arc always properly updated and stored.
⦁ Basic vehicle maintenance – ensuring that Ihe vehicle is in proper working condition and is always maintained in a clean state.
⦁ Complying with Ihe Existing Laws and Regulations relating to the conduct of a motor vehicle on the roadways in Guyana
⦁ Any other tasks may be assigned.

Required Qualifications/ Competencies/Skills and Experience:
⦁ A sound secondary education.
⦁ Numerical and Literacy skills.
⦁ /X good command of written and verbal English.
⦁ A valid driver’s license.
⦁ Defensive Driving Certification is required.
⦁ Must be able to drive Manual and Automatic vehicles.
⦁ Experience in Off-Road Travels.
⦁ At least 5 years of driving experience.
⦁ Aged between 35-45 years.
⦁ Skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
⦁ Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
⦁ I lexible in terms of working hours and willingness to travel extensively within the country.
⦁ Good health and fitness record.

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience. Benefits include travel allowance, duty allowance, vacation allowance, and gratuity. A90-day introductory period applies to all new positions.
