The Private Sector Commission of Guyana (PSC) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Economist/Analyst. PSC is the Apex Business Support Organization (BSO) and the leading advocate for the private sector on publicly articulated and shared positions of national issues. It deals primarily with national cross-cutting issues at a policy level for effective private sector business development and by extension national economic development.

Job Summary

The Economist/Analyst will work with the Commission to assist with the improvement of all processes and procedures to enhance the technical skills-set and capabilities of the Secretariat, to effectively execute the mandate of the PSC’s Board and the Organization. The Economist/Analyst will also be required to have critical thinking and decision-making capabilities to conduct research, analyze data and derive solutions to business problems which will lead to the further growth and development of the Private Sector Commission.

Key Functions



  • Prepare and present timely reports on various indicators of the local and global economy to the members of the Private Sector Commission and other organizations. Develop and maintain data files to support research and analytical activities.
  • Develop advocacy positions on issues analyzed for presentation to the Private Sector Commission Council and/or Executive
  • Maintain supportive relations with PSC members and provide technical support to all Sub-Committees of the PSC.
  • Liaise with government agencies and donor organizations to promote the work of the PSC and facilitate data sharing.
  • Provide economic and technical information for website.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience



  • BSc. in Economics, Business Management/Finance or related field Experience in a similar role would be an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communicator
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Efficient time-management and multitasking abilities
