DigiceL is looking for a top candidate
to fill the role of Field Engineer.
Primary Job Objectives
O&M Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Digicel’s cellular sites to ensure 100% availability and quality service.
Essential Responsibilities will include (but is not limited to)
- Perform hardware and software upgrades on BTS and transmission systems.
- Respond to emergencies such as outages and potential failures on cellular network
- Perform and maintain network documentation where necessary.
- Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on cellular network hardware.
- Prepare report on outages and maintenance for cellular sites and related nodes
- Perform reconfigurations of BTS and Microwave transmission
- Installations of BTS and microwave transmission
- Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Successful candidate will possess
- Diploma/Degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Telecommunications Engineering or Technical Diploma from Government Technical Institute or equivalent
- COMPTIA Network* Certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in one or more of the fields listed below:-
- Operations and maintenance of cellular transmission systems
Functional skills
- Applicants are required to be computer literate – proficient in Microsoft office and internet savvy
- Applicants must be familiar with networking concepts – including IP addressing, VLANs, Ethernet and Routing
- Must be familiar with Radio Frequency Spectrum, radio transceivers, antenna and feeder systems
- Applicants must have knowledge of electrical power systems – including A.C and D.C generation/distribution, UPS, Inverters, rectifiers and battery banks.
- Ability to acquire knowledge at a fast pace and troubleshoot problems on the spot using technical manuals and documentation.
- Must be a licensed driver with ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends
