Field Engineer. – Digicel

Digicel is looking for a top candidate
to fill the role of Field Engineer.

Primary Job Objectives

OSrM Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Digicel’s cellular sites to ensure 100% availability and quality service.

Essential Responsibilities will include (but Is not limited to)

• Perform hardware and software upgrades on BTS and transmission systems.
• Respond to emergencies such as outages and potential failures on cellular network
• Perform and maintain network documentation where necessary.
• Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on cellular network hardware.
• Prepare report on outages and maintenance for cellular sites and related nodes
• Perform reconfigurations of BTS and Microwave transmission
• Installations of BTS and microwave transmission
• Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Successful candidate will possess

• Diploma/Degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Telecommunications Engineering or Technical Diploma from Government Technical Institute or equivalent
• COMPTIA Network* Certification or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in one or more of the fields listed below?-
• Operations and maintenance of cellular transmission systems
• Operation and Maintenance of BTS/Node B equipment
• Operation and Maintenance of A.C and DC Power Systems

Functional skills

• Applicants are required to be computer literate – proficient in Microsoft office and internet savvy
• Applicants must be familiar with networking concepts – including IP addressing, VLANs, Ethernet and Routing
• Must be familiar with Radio Frequency Spectrum, radio transceivers, antenna and feeder systems

Applicants must have knowledge of electrical power systems – including AC and D.C generation/distribution, UPS, Inverters, rectifiers and battery banks.

Ability to acquire knowledge at a fast pace and troubleshoot problems on the spot using technical manuals and documentation.

Must be a licensed driver with ability to drive manual transmission vehicles

Must be wiling to work flexible hours and weekends
