GIS SPECIALIST – TOROPARU PROJECT – Aris Mining Toroparu Inc.

The GIS Specialist will provide project-wide geospatial data management, mapping and spatial analysis for the Toroparu Project. The role will support Project Development, Engineering and Construction, Environment and Permitting, Community Relations, Land, Security and other project functions by maintaining accurate, controlled and current spatial information for decision-making, planning and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role will assist the Geology department in compiling historical datasets, generating geological cartography, and enforcing strict data assurance and QA/QC standards across legacy databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain and administer the Project GIS database, spatial data library, coordinate systems, metadata, naming conventions and version control.
  • Maintain current project base mapping, satellite imagery, cadastral and land tenure information, infrastructure, environmental and community datasets.
  • Support the Geology department with the compilation, standardization, and generation of regional and deposit-scale geological cartography and maps.
  • Assist in the administration, migration, and quality control of historical geological databases, implementing robust data assurance and QA/QC processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Integrate spatial information from surveyors, engineering teams, consultants, contractors and government agencies into a controlled project GIS environment.
  • Prepare maps and spatial analysis to support mine-site development, the access road, bridges, camps, utilities, water management facilities and other project infrastructure.
  • Support route and corridor analysis and integrate survey, engineering, CAD and construction information into the GIS platform.
  • Maintain environmental baseline and constraint mapping and support ESIA commitments, monitoring programs, permitting and regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain land-use, cadastral, mineral tenure and forestry information and identify potential land-use or project constraints.
  • Support Community Relations with mapping of communities, settlements, community infrastructure, stakeholder areas and relevant land-use interactions.
  • Produce professional maps and spatial outputs for management reports, presentations, stakeholder engagement and project reporting.
  • Support GPS/GNSS field data collection, field verification and ground-truthing and ensure field information is accurately incorporated into the GIS database.
  • Develop and maintain GIS procedures, map templates and quality-control standards across the Project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical qualification in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Surveying, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant GIS experience, preferably in mining, infrastructure, engineering, environmental or major project environments.
  • Experience supporting projects through development and/or construction is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and/or equivalent professional GIS platforms.
  • Experience with CAD, survey data, satellite imagery, GPS/GNSS and geospatial databases.
  • Experience with environmental, cadastral, infrastructure and land-use mapping is desirable; remote-project experience is an advantage.
  • Experience collaborating with geology teams and handling historical drilling location datasets is desirable.
  • Strong spatial analysis, cartographic and geospatial database management skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and data-control discipline.
  • Ability to integrate multiple technical datasets and communicate spatial information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
