The Human Resources Clerk is responsible for managing and/or providing support in every aspect of the human resource function and every stage of the employee life cycle. This includes recruitment and staffing, orientation, training and development, performance monitoring, employee counseling and offboarding. He/she will support and develop talent through developing policies and managing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Correspondences: Disciplinary letters (Warning/Suspensions) Re-designations Transfers Promotions/ Demotions
  • Salary and Benefits Administration: Ensure employees have correct pay and benefits.
  • Employee Relations: Develop programs that enhance employee relations.
  • Monitor employees’ punctuality and attendance.
  • Address disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Health and Safety – Promote equality, health and safety within the company.
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensure that company employment policy follows local laws and regulations.
  • Review existing company polices (general working conditions) or create new policies and ensure that employees comply.
  • Provide guidance on company policies and procedures.
  • Explain and ensure that employees understand all company policies and procedures when appointed.
  • Prepare/update employee handbook.
  • Training and Development: Liaise with Managers to organize training for employees.
  • Offboarding: Preparation of Separation Statements and Exit Interviews.
  • 8. Supervisory – Ensure that direct reports carry out all assigned tasks in a timely manner and as per the required standard and in accordance with the labour laws and update HR Manager of department progress and issues.
  • 9. Performance Management: Support the performance management process.
  • Endure that the performance of employees on probation are being assessed in a timely manner.
  • Issue relevant letter upon completion.
  • Assist with preparation and amending organizational chart.
  • Maintain employees’ records.
  • Any other related duties assigned by Manager.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management / Administration/ Human Resource Management or similar discipline
  • Minimum five (5) subjects CXC inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment.
  • Knowledge of Guyana labour laws.
  • Knowledge of HR software would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (internal and external).
  • Supervisory and administrative skill
  • Comprehensive understanding of Employment laws.
  • Sensitivity and understanding
  • The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
