MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital Inc.

Description

Preparing monthly statistics form.

– Performing daily equipment and other maintenance.

– Ensuring that sections assigned are clean and tidy.

– Ensuring that all results are signed off in Log Books and Reporting forms

scanned and dispatched

– Ensuring quality controls are performed and recorded appropriately.

– Recording results in log books and report forms.

– Become acquainted with all sections of the laboratory.

– Instructing patients as regard to pre- testing requirements.

– Assisting in reagent preparation.

– Ensuring that there are always working materials, reagents, tests kits and

disposables in the department during and after every shift.

– Requesting stock for the departmental use.

– Assisting in the decontamination of infectious materials prior to final

disposal.

– Being responsible for specimen processing and test performance.

– Collecting various specimens through phlebotomy. Operating and

maintaining designated laboratory equipment.

– Maintaining stocks, record consumption and indent for stocks as

necessary.

– Supplying data of stock usage to auditors as required.

– Adhering to all safety rules, housekeeping practices and manufacturers’

guidelines.

– Performing any other duties that may be assigned.

Requirements

-Certificate in Phlebotomy / Medical Technician Certificate

-Five Subjects CXC inclusive of Mathematics and English Language 

– Must be computer literate.

– Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Ensuring all samples are transported, received, and stored correctly.

Request/Indent, by using the software, stock for departmental use.

Ensuring medical laboratory reagent and supplies inventory are maintained.

Monitoring reagent/consumables use in each section to ensure the timely indenting of stocks and appropriate recording of consumption in all ledgers.
