PLANT MECHANIC – Sterling Products Limited

To execute and repair/modifications/installations of equipment within a manufacturing environment.

• Five (5) subjects GCE/CXC including English and Mathematics.
• Technician Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Part 1 and 2 or Certificate in Fitting and Machinist from G.T.I.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Plant Mechanic.

• To be able to read, and interpret mechanical drawings of standard machinery and equipment.
• To be able to check strength or materials with a handbook under close supervision and to have knowledge of the material that is standard for use on various machines.
• To do all common methods of rigging and handling heavy machines and materials safely and economically under average to minimal supervision.
• To dismantle and assemble, install or replace any part(s) on common machines.
• To recognize by feel, sight or hearing mechanical faults in machines in common use on the plant and make general repairs.
• To be able to run drill presses, hacksaws and hand-powered tools.
• Ability to use the tools of his craft such as calipers, feelers, micrometers, etc. necessary to complete repairs on the machine.
• To be able to use the tools that will allow him to perform the above duties with minimum amount of trouble and expedite the job assigned to him with average supervision.
•  To complete assignments in a timely manner and exercise good house-keeping techniques and conduct.
• Compliance with health and safety requirements and Company rules and policies.
