DESCRIPTION
STOP, SEARCH & RECORD’ or SSR is the core principle that must be appreciated by all security officers: STOP – awareness, observation, compliance, identification, and purpose. SEARCH – declaration, screening, detection. RECORD –information, database. He/she is responsible for ensuring safety of all asset of the company through proper monitoring of all access and exit points. This also includes monitoring internal cordons of the company promises and keeping record of specific occurrences.
REQUIREMENTS
Sound Secondary Education
Attention to detail
Ability to read and write legibly
Physically fit and polite
Ability to understand/interpret and follow all safety and security policies and guidelines
Ability to work both night and day shifts
Knowledge of fire-arm and use of radio set (an asset, but not a requirement)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrol ‘area of control’ of the premises (at least every hour) to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, fences, and all access and exit points
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain order, and security of the premises
Make detail and legible entries in log book/s regarding daily activities and irregularities (this includes, equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or any unusual occurrences)
Communicate appropriately and promptly in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons (this includes, responding adequately to radio checks).
Answer telephone and radio calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during working and non-business hours (this involves an understanding of the stipulated call codes, and specific information about the company)
Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary
Operate specific detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas (this involves ‘Stop, Search & Record (SSR) process)
Inspect security systems and equipment (lights, cameras and other communication devices) ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operation of these devices, and detect evidence/signs of tampering
Guard and armored vehicle (when necessary) to transport money and valuables to prevent theft and ensure safe delivery (this may include, carrying a firearm)
Monitor appropriately all staff, visitor and customer within your scope, to ensure Safety and Security compliances
Ensure all vehicles and persons entering and leaving the company promises goes through the SSR process (this includes, staff, visitor, customer and any person/s and vehicle/s entering and leaving the compound)
Ensure proper care of the company property/item/s under your control (this includes, log book, torch light, communication devices, PPE gears, chairs/stool, table, etc.)
Ensure you are properly attired with uniform/jersey when on duty, or otherwise directed
Ensure you follow the process of ‘Handover/Takeover’ when duty commenced, and concludes.
Ensure you execute your work shift as stipulated in the weekly roster, unless otherwise directed
Any other security related duties assigned by Supervisor
