Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding, brazing, cutting, and fabrication on construction equipment, vehicles, and associated components including buckets, frames, trailers, and structural supports.
- Inspect damaged equipment or parts and determine the most appropriate repair method.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications to carry out precise fabrication and repair work.
- Conduct preventive maintenance welding tasks to reduce the risk of mechanical failures in fleet machinery.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, such as MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene torches.
- Use cutting tools such as plasma cutters and grinders to prepare and finish welds.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and OSHA regulations during welding and fabrication tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance logs, material usage, and work orders.
- Collaborate with mechanics, equipment operators, and site supervisors to identify and prioritize repair needs.
- Keep welding and fabrication tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in proper working condition.
- Assist in field repairs and emergency breakdowns as needed across the construction site.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the project or company operations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; additional technical training in welding is a plus.
- Valid certification for welding.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a welder in a construction, industrial, or heavy equipment environment.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, fabrication techniques, and repair procedures for steel and alloy components.
- Familiarity with fleet vehicles, earthmoving equipment, and hydraulic systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
