The International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly-Guyana (IDPADA-G) Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) is a Secretariat funded by the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The CCM is intended to fulfill the country’s commitment as a signatory to a United Nations Resolution addressing past injustices to the global African community. The Secretariat focuses on policies, programmes and projects affecting the African community in Guyana during the decade 2015 – 2024, designated by the UN as the decade for people of African ancestry. Applicants must have personal acquaintance with, and knowledge of the African Guyanese community7 and their historic and current struggles.

- Job Summary
The successful applicant works closely with the Employment and Economic Committees of IDPADA-G, member organisations, community stakeholders, state, and local government authorities to contribute to related objectives of the Strategic Plan 2020- 2024 under the direct supervision of the Program Manager.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Project Officer – Community Development include planning, operational management and logistics, preparation of technical proposals, capacity building of member organisations, networking with relevant communities and stakeholders, demonstrated ability to analyse data, preparation of progress and management reports and establishing monitoring and evaluation systems. Support to meetings of the Coordinating Council is also required.
- Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or Agriculture from a recognised tertiary institution with at least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in the related field; OR
A Bachelor’s Degree Social Sciences or Agriculture from a recognized tertiary institution plus five (5) years’ project management and/or experience in the related field.
