BAR MANAGER AND SOMMELIER – Total-Base Services Guyana Inc.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Bar Manager & Sommelier who is responsible for overseeing bar operations, managing the beverage program, and curating exceptional wine and cocktail experiences for guests. This role combines leadership, creativity, and in-depth wine and spirits expertise.

• Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management or similar.
• Certification in Wine Studies (e.g., WSET) or Mixology is advantageous
• Proven experience as a Bar Manager and/or Sommelier (3+ years preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of wine varieties, regions, pairing techniques, and mixology.
• Certification as a Sommelier or equivalent is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle high-pressure environments with professionalism.
• Customer-focused with excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in inventory and point-of-sale systems.
• Professional appearance, punctuality, and commitment to service excellence.

• Manage daily bar operations, including staffing, inventory, and service standards.
• Lead, train, and motivate bar staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Develop and maintain a wine and beverage menu, ensuring an appealing selection that aligns with guest preferences.
• Provide expert wine and spirits recommendations to guests, enhancing their dining experience.
• Oversee wine storage, inventory control, and ordering to maintain quality and availability.
• Create and refine innovative cocktail menus, balancing creativity with guest trends.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations.
• Monitor bar profitability, control costs, and drive revenue through up selling and promotions.
• Address guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally.
• Conduct regular staff training on wine, spirits, and cocktail preparation.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar area.
