What are the day-to-day responsibilities of an Officer Cadet?

Cadets undergo intensive military training including drill, weapons handling, fieldcraft, physical conditioning, and leadership exercises. What is the work culture like in the GDF?

The GDF operates on a strict hierarchical structure where discipline, respect for rank, and obedience to lawful orders are central. Life is regimented, especially during initial training, with early mornings and physically demanding routines. Camaraderie among ranks is strong and loyalty to country is highly valued.

How can I progress in my career after completing cadet training?

Successful cadets are commissioned as officers and can advance through commissioned ranks based on performance, further training, and years of service. Opportunities exist for specialised courses locally and overseas, and postings to different branches such as infantry, engineering, or air corps. Promotion depends on merit, leadership ability, and vacancies.
