Job Description: Senior Accounts Clerk Department: Finance & Accounting Reports Directly To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Location: Soesdyke Facility Employment Type: Full-Time (Office Staff) Role Purpose The Senior Accounts Clerk plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of JSB Investments. Working under the direct supervision of the CFO, this individual takes full ownership of robust day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow reconciliation. This role requires an experienced, high-energy professional who can multitask efficiently to ensure that our expanding machinery fleet investments, aggregate imports, and sand export transactions across Guyana are perfectly tracked and auditable.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1. General Ledger & Financial Record Management Maintain and update accurate digital and physical accounting ledgers using company-designated financial systems. Perform routine bank reconciliations, matching company bank records against daily sales transactions from our aggregate yards and heavy equipment operations. Assist the CFO in compiling monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and accurate profit-and-loss data to support executive decision-making.
  • 2. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management Process vendor invoices, verify delivery notes for aggregates and machinery spare parts, and prepare local and international supplier payments for approval. Ensure all vendor payments are scheduled accurately to maintain an uninterrupted supply chain while protecting cash flow metrics. Audit and reconcile petty cash expenses across all operational hubs (Soesdyke, La Retraite WCD, Yarrowkabra, and Linden).
  • 3. Accounts Receivable & Revenue Tracking Track, record, and follow up on client payments for construction material sales, sand exports, and heavy equipment rentals. Monitor aging accounts receivable, flag overdue accounts, and work proactively with clients to ensure swift collections. Verify daily cash, check, and electronic transfer receipts submitted by on-site sales and dispatch teams.
  • 4. Statutory Compliance & Audit Preparation Coordinate with the Payroll Clerk to audit and verify that PAYE taxes and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) obligations are compiled, recorded, and ready for accurate remittance to the relevant Guyanese authorities. Organize and prepare clear financial schedules and documentation to ensure internal and external financial audits run smoothly without discrepancies.
  • 5. Team Support & Multitasking Provide guidance to junior administrative or payroll staff on proper document-handling and filing protocols. Step in to assist with high-priority executive operations tasks during peak seasons, embodying the JSB “can-do” multitasking philosophy.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3- 4 years of progressive accounting/bookkeeping experience in Guyana. Direct experience working in the construction, heavy logistics, manufacturing, or mining sector is a plus.
  • Education: CAT (Certified Accounting Technician) qualified, or currently pursuing ACCA (Level 1 or 2 completed), or holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data formatting are mandatory). Hands-on experience with standard accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or customized ERP systems).
  • Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Guyanese tax regulations, Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) processes, and general accounting principles.
